apud Spartian. in Hadriano, c. 2. quum sollicitus, de Imperatoris erga se iudicio, Virgilianas sortes consuleret,
Quis procul ille autem ramis insignis olivae
Sacra ferens? noseo erines, incanaque menta
Regis Romani, primam qui legibus urbem
Fundavit, Curibus parvis et paupere terrâ;
Missus in Imperium magnum, cui deinde subibit.
Sort excidit, quam alii ex Sibyllinis versibus ei provenisse dixerunt. Et apud Lamprid. Alexandro Seu. c. 14. Ipse quum parentis hortatu animum a Philosophia et Musica ad alias artes Taduceret, virgilianis Sortibus huiusmodi illustratus est;
Excudent alii spirantia mollius aera etc.
Tu regere Imperiô populos Romane memento.
Hae tibi erunt artes, pacique imponere inorem.
Parcere subiectis et debellare superbos.
Vide quoque treb. Pollionem in Divo Claudio: quid sint, et quô pactô institui solitae, diximus supra, voce Sortes Virgilianae.
